Eastham Town Hall
Present: Glenn Collins, Bob Cook, Frank Dobek, Laura Freeman, Sue Haley, Sue Horton, and Dave Read
Approval of Meeting Minutes
MOTION: Dave moved and Glen seconded to approve the October 25, 2006 meeting minutes.
APPROVED: unanimously.
Open Space Committee Membership
Bob Cook and Frank Dobek are new committee members. This is their first meeting as Open Space Committee members.
Welcome, Frank and Bob! We finally have 7 committee members again. We do still need a new chairperson at some
point. For now Glen will post the meetings and Laura will continue to take the minutes.
Community Preservation Act Application/Wiley Park Bridge
Glen has put together an application for funding the construction of the bridge using CPA funds. An Eastham resident has questioned the Selectmen’s decision to fund the construction of the bridge using the money set aside in the open space account of the capital plan. Hopefully, the Selectmen’s decision to fund the project with these monies will not be overturned, but if it does, we should have an application in the works with the CPA to fund this project.
Lengthy discussion ensued with respect to the application upon its review. The Committee was grateful to Glenn for putting the application together so quickly so we do not miss the opportunity to have a fall back funding plan for the construction of the bridge. The deadline for the application is tomorrow. Glen will put the application together for Sue Horton to proofread. It will be submitted to the CPA Committee for review.
Open Space Management:
Wiley Park Bridge Progress
The bridge design is done – Glen presented the design to the Committee.
Open Space Management Plan & Open Space Brochure
We will await an update from Katelyn at our next meeting on these topics.
Land Acquisition
Harmes Way – The Audubon is still pursuing this property.
New Business
1651 Forest
Sue Haley reports that Henry Lind has been out to locate all the plants with GPS. Having their precise locations makes it easier to keep track of the survival rates.
Recreation Commission
Sue went to the Recreation Committee Meeting on November 14th. It was a good meeting- there are lots of organized activities coming up. Frank is on the Recreation Commission too. The Recreation folks would like the OS folks to remember that recreation is something that is part of our charter i.e. tennis courts and fields and to keep that in mind when evaluating land purchases. This reminder comes at a good time as we need to update our land acquisition priority list.
Community Preservation Act Commissioner
All CPA applications have to be in tomorrow. There is a big CPA committee meeting tomorrow.
Next Meeting: January 3, 2006 at 7:30 p.m..
Sue Haley moved to adjourn. Laura seconded. APPROVED: unanimously
Adjournment at 8:55 p.m.
Respectfully submitted by,
Laura Freeman
